The regional transport Münsterland GmbH (RVM) is part of the government which in Westphalia transported people and goods. Today's RVM was founded in 1980.
Shareholder
This transport company is owned by the districts of Warendorf , Borken , Steinfurt and Coesfeld . The cities and communities of Ahlen, Beckum, Everswinkel, Lüdinghausen, Münster, Selm and Sendenhorst also hold smaller shares (as of December 31, 2016). With 47.14%, RVM is the main shareholder of Westfälische Verkehrsgesellschaft GmbH in Münster.
Bus transport
In 2013, a total of 606 vehicles were used in bus and coach transport on a route network of 9,330 kilometers in length. The number of public lines is 341. With the rapid buses , Regio buses , city buses , night buses , taxi buses and the Anrufsammeltaxi are annually transported about 29.8 million passengers in the various counties in total. This makes RVM the largest regional transport company in the Münsterland. Together with the authorities of the districts and municipalities, the company is developing the transport offers in the region. Milestones are the establishment of the SchnellBus system from 1990 and the first night bus line from Ahlen to Münster in 1992.
Rail freight transport
The RVM is the legal successor of the Tecklenburger Nordbahn and operates the railway line taken over from Rheine-Altenrheine via Mettingen to Osnabrück-Eversburg in freight traffic. There is a diesel locomotive (a MaK G 1600 BB with the number 61), two more ( KHD DG 1200 BBM with the numbers 28 and 45) were sold in 2017. In addition, since September 2018 RVM has owned a diesel-electric locomotive of the type Vossloh DE 18 with the number 55. If there is a lot of traffic, other locomotives are occasionally used by the other railway companies of the Westfälische Verkehrsgesellschaft.
Since 2001, RVM has also been operating the Rheine – Spelle railway line , which it previously leased from DB. Most of the traffic today results from this section of the route; In Spelle, for example, the Rekers company , a manufacturer of precast concrete parts, is supplied with gravel. The components manufactured there are transported to various large construction sites, over long distances also by rail. The Krone agricultural machinery factory is also served at the Speller train station . The freight traffic center in Altenrheine also ensured heavy freight traffic at times.
In 2015, the municipality of Spelle built a siding to the Spelle-Venhaus port , so that an increase in transport performance can be expected in the following years. Above all, feed, grain, flour and building materials are to be handled here.
subsidiary
Verkehrsbetriebe Kipp GmbH (VBK) , based in Lengerich , acts as a 100% subsidiary of RVM . This operates several bus routes in the local public transport in Münsterland.
