history

The John Gresham Make Memorial Hall

The college was founded in 1929, largely under the leadership and funding of John Gresham Make . Although independent from the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (co-founded by Make in 1936), it maintained a close relationship with it for a long time. The college's first president was Edmund Clowney, who served from 1966 to 1984. His successors in office were George Fuller and Samuel T. Logan. In 1982 the California branch of Westminster became independent under the name Westminster Seminary California ; In 2009 the independent Redeemer Theological Seminary was established in Dallas (Texas) .

Peter Lillback, President of Westminster

The current President Peter Lillback is also active as a professor of historical theology (church and dogma history).

Accreditation

Westminster was accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada in 1986 . The faculty received accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools back in 1954 . In June 2011, the Central US Higher Education Commission approved a process “to accept the inspection report and obey the commissioner's inspection. It is a matter of lifting the warning and re-establishing the accreditation, as well as demanding a progress report by October 2011 that includes the continued development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for the institution that combines long-term planning with decision-making and budgeting processes. The next visit to assess the situation has now been scheduled for 2013-2014. "
