Westside Connection is an American gangsta rap group. It was founded by rappers Ice Cube , Mack 10 and WC .

Westside Connection attracted attention, among other things, by confronting the hip-hop group Cypress Hill and the resulting diss song King of the Hill .

history

In 1995, the three West Coast rappers appeared together for the first time on the album Mack 10 by the rapper Mack 10 with the song Westside Slaughterhouse . A year later, Ice Cube, Mack 10 and WC formed the group Westside Connection and released their first album Bow Down . The sound carrier entered the US Billboard 200 charts at number 2 and later reached platinum status with 1.7 million units sold. The two singles Bow Down and Gangstas Make the World Go Round also celebrated chart successes. Sun rose Gangstas Make the World Go Round at position 40 and Bow Down at number 21 of the Billboard Hot 100 -charts one.

The group's second album was released in 2003 after a hiatus. Gangsta Nation , recorded by Westside Connection with musician Nate Dogg , was released as a single . Gangsta Nation debuted at number 33 on the US charts. The second album was also able to place itself in the charts again at position 16. Terrorist Threats did not reach the success of the debut album with 679,000 units sold.

After the release of the second album, Mack 10 split from the group and WC signed to Ice Cube's label Lench Mob Records . In 2005, Mack 10 stated that there would be no more new material from the group. As a reason, the musician gave the concentration of the individual members on their respective solo careers.

In 2008, Ice Cube declared the group's comeback. The rapper The Game should replace the former member Mack 10. For the album Raw Footage by Ice Cube, released in 2008, the joint piece Get Use To It with WC and The Game was already created.
