Whitecross is a Christian metal - band , the 1986 Chicago was founded (USA). It was one of the most popular Christian melodic metal bands in the USA from the late 1980s to the early 1990s , the core of which were singer Scott Wenzel and guitarist Rex Carroll.
Band history
Whitecross was founded in 1986 by Rex Carroll and Scott Wenzel. A year later, the self-titled debut album was released on the Pure Metal label. Because of their style, they were often compared to the hair metal group Ratt at the time . The EP Love On the Line followed the debut . The albums Hammer and Nail (1988) and Triumphant Return (1989) were also released. Pure Metal was then bought by Star Song . Two more albums were recorded and won the 1990 and 1992 Dove Awards in the Hard Music Album of the Year category . Then Rex Carroll, who was an important part of the band as a founding member, left the group in 1993. Whitecross existed until 1998, with Wenzel as the only remaining founding member. In 2005, Carroll and Wenzel came back together to reorganize Whitecross and re-record the debut album under the name Nineteen Eighty Seven , with two bonus tracks.
