action
The announcer announces a college football game between Taxidermy Tech and Anthropology A&M. The mascots, referees, coaches and players enter the stadium. The announcer explains the rules of the football game, but his words are drowned out in the cheers of the crowd. The game begins and Taxidermy Tech's Swivel-Head Smith catches the football in his team's end zone. He manages a run over 105 yards and a subsequent touchdown - a rarely seen action that is completely hidden by the players and coaches on the pitch line. Taxidermy Tech takes the lead with 6 points and increases to 7 points with a shot through the goal, the point after touchdown (PAT). Swivel-Head Smith is replaced as the star of the team and taken care of on the sidelines. In the game, the attacking rights change back and forth and there are some major injuries, so that the first players are carried off the pitch. By chance, Anthropology manages a touchdown, but he can't get an extra point because a Taxidermy player catches the football in his mouth. Anthropology succeeds in another touchdown when a player catches a sharply thrown ball and starts running against the direction of the shot, contracting the entire field of play and ending up in the defending team's end zone. Anthropology now leads 12 to 7. The subsequent additional point is given half because the football remains centered on the crossbar.
During the break, the Taxidermy coach tries to build up the completely exhausted players. The second half begins and the Taxidermy manager brings in his star Swivel-Head Smith. He almost manages a touchdown after gaining more than 90 yards of space, but Smith is knocked out by the concentrated defense of Anthropology. As the game progresses, the coach desperately tries to revive Smith, while Taxidermy continually fails due to Anthropology's strong defense. When Smith gives a sign of life, he is brought into play standing completely beside him. He receives the football and, with the eager help of his team, reaches the line at the end zone, but lurches around there. It's the last play and a lone Anthropology defender runs towards Smith but misses and knocks over the gate. A pillar gets caught in Smith's jersey and pulls him into the end zone, where Smith goes down with the ball. The touchdown gives Taxidermy a 13 to 12.5 win over Anthropology. The speaker, who has eaten his microphone in the meantime because of the tension, thanks the Taxidermy trainer, whose strategic work made the victory possible. The coach, however, has become insane in the course of the game and is being prepared for admission to the psychiatric ward.
