The Wiedtal-Gymnasium ( short: WTG) in Neustadt (Wied) in the district of Neuwied is a state high school in Rhineland-Palatinate . Around 1,000 students are taught by around 75 teachers here.

It enables four languages ​​to be learned and has an “open teachers' room”, which every student has access to during breaks for direct contact with the teachers. The grammar school is located in the immediate vicinity of the Neustadt (Wied) secondary school.

It has its own band, which consists of the orientation level choir, the intermediate level choir, the band and its own technical team (PTT). She plays at official school events and the annual Phoenix Concert and at the annual small summer festival.

history

The Wiedtal-Gymnasium was founded in 1975 under the auspices of the Neuwied district and has had a fully developed upper level gymnasium ( Mainz study level ) since the first graduation class in 1983/84 .

Competitions

In the 2019/20 school year, the school took part in the Jugend testet competition . The students achieved a placement in the top 20 as well as one in the top 50.

Among other things, network providers / cell phone networks in and around the school area were tested, as well as garbage bags and cell phone cases. In the course of this competition, the youth presented competitions and the federal environmental competition were also taken part.

The 20 best students included: Cedrik Zander and Manuel Lutsch , and the top 50 included Nico Noisten , Elisa Bletz , Jasmin Bungarten and Timo Brümmer .

School grounds

The building is divided into three sub-buildings: A building (administration, teachers' room, natural sciences), B building, C building. The school has an auditorium, two computer laboratories and a computer training room as well as chemistry / biology and physics training rooms spread over two floors. In addition, the grammar school has two music and art rooms and its own sports hall and also uses the sports hall of the adjoining secondary school and the Wiedparkhalle.

The school has a motorcycle shelter for students who come to school every day with their two-wheelers.

School newspaper

The high school has an independently administered school newspaper . This is published annually before the summer holidays . The school newspaper Pausengong is produced by a working group that had exclusively female members in the 2018/2019 school year.

The newspaper has received several awards in the past, including from the website Schülerzeitung.de, the Europe Prize, which was awarded by Malu Dreyer in 2017 , and 3rd place in the 2014/2015 school newspaper competition.
