The Wieland Verlag is a German book publisher in the legal form of a limited liability company with registered office in Bad Aibling .

history

Wieland Verlag was founded in 1999 by Hans Joachim Wieland, who is still the sole partner and managing director to this day . The publishing house was initially located in Bruckmühl before the company moved to Bad Aibling in 2007. The founding of the publishing house was preceded by a restructuring of the journalistic and journalistic activities of Hans Joachim Wieland. The editorial office that existed up to that point was divided into three divisions: Wieland Verlag GmbH took over the publishing division, especially for the then newly founded Messer Magazin . In the HörnerWieland GbR, today setupmedia, all corporate publishing projects were brought together, while services for other publishers were bundled in the newly founded VF Redaktion GmbH with the participation of the Vereinigte Fachverlage. This is where the AutoMagazin (VF Verlag) was created until 2002 and the off-road vehicle magazine 4Wheel Fun (VF Verlag) until 2005 . In addition, magazines were produced by Wieland Verlag on behalf of other publishers, such as F1 Racing ( Haymarket Publishing ), Auto Classic ( GeraMond Verlag ) or Sportrevue (Intermedia).

The company is headed by founder Hans Joachim Wieland. Around nine people are employed in Bad Aibling. However, the publisher largely relies on freelance journalists, authors and editors. Wieland Verlag has specialized in knives . The publisher's range currently includes over 50 specialist books and six regular magazines, which are also sold through the publisher's own web shop.

The magazines are currently being produced in offset printing by Vogel Druck und Medienservice GmbH ( Bertelsmann ). The editorial offices are located in Wuppertal and Berlin , among others .

Magazines

Messer Magazin has been one of the special interest magazines since 1999 , which was expanded from 2008 to 2014 with the special issue gear . In 2011 the new regular title 4x4action - The magazine for real off-roaders followed . Since 2013, the men's magazine Tweed - Das Magazin für den Gentleman (formerly The Magazine for the British Lifestyle ) has been published six times a year by Wieland Verlag. A year later, gear magazine was split into two topics: Tactical Gear and Survival Magazine . Another topic in the publisher's portfolio has been the magazine Cycle - Das Bike & Style Magazin since 2014 .

Reference books

Wieland Verlag has been publishing specialist books on knives and handicrafts as well as martial arts since 2003 . Book titles in the Messer Magazin Workshop series and special editions of Messer Magazin have been published in book form since 2006 . This includes the annual “Messer Catalog”. In cooperation with the German Knife Makers Guild , four yearbooks were created up to 2016.

Regular authors include: Roman Landes, Stefan Steigerwald, Herbert Schmidt , Thomas Laible, Dietmar Pohl, Michael Eichhammer , Hans Joachim Wieland and Rudolf Dick.

Various books from the automotive field were published from 2004 to 2012 . Among other things, a yearbook series in cooperation with Scania .
