The ski jumping club Wiener Stadtadler is an Austrian sports club. It is the only active ski jumping club in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.

founding

Following the idea of ÖSV sports director Toni Innauer to exploit the athletic talent potential in eastern Austria, Olympic medalist Christian Moser founded the association "Ski Jumping Club Wiener Stadtadler" in 2005 to enable ski jumping as a sport in the Austrian capital. Within a few years a team of around 30 to 40 young athletes from Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland was created. The association now has around 130 members.

For many years the club has been fighting for a ski jumping hill in Vienna or the surrounding area in order to intensify the regular training for children and young people so that the club's goal - to establish a ski jumper from the east of Austria in the world cup team of the ÖSV - can be implemented can.

training

Since neither Vienna nor Lower Austria have intact ski jumping hills , the club organizes joint trips to the nearest training facilities every weekend, often to the Ganzsteinschanze in Mürzzuschlag in Styria . The fitness training takes place on weekdays in Vienna. In addition, there are regular training camps lasting two or more days in Eisenerz , Höhnhart , Villach or Planica . Several athletes from the Wiener Stadtadler have also been admitted to the Stams , Saalfelden and Eisenerz ski schools and train there.
