biography

Viktor Alexandrovich Kogan was born on August 9, 1936. In 1959 he graduated from the chemistry faculty of Rostov State University (SRU; today Southern Federal University ). From 1962 he worked for the SRU; He has been a professor since 1978, and from 1983 to 2014 he was head of the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry at the SRU.

His most important scientific work deals with the chemistry of the coordination complex of transition metals with polyfunctional organic ligands, the magnetochemistry of bi- and polynuclear exchange clusters - complexes of transition metals with hydrazones and Schiff's bases.

Wiktor Kogan was the author of 4 monographs and more than 600 papers and 40 certificates of invention. He was a member of the editorial board of the Russian Journal of Coordination Chemistry .

He was a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1989), laureate of the Lev Chugayev Prize ( Russian Academy of Sciences ; 2003), and honored scientist of the RSFSR.

He died on October 21, 2014 in Rostov-on-Don at the age of 78.
