Viktor Andreevich Kravchenko (Admiral)

Viktor Andreevich Kravchenko ( Russian Виктор Андреевич Кравченко ; born December 5, 1943 in Bogdanowitsch ) is a Russian admiral and former commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and chief of the main staff of the Russian Navy .

Life

Kravchenko worked in a factory after graduating from school and then entered the Officers' College of the Soviet Navy M.W. Frunze , which he graduated in 1968. He then served in the Black Sea Fleet as a combat section commander , first officer and commander of a submarine . In 1974 he completed special courses for officers and was employed as chief of staff and commander of a submarine division . In 1978 he graduated from the Naval War Academy , in 1990 the Military Academy of the General Staff and became 1st Deputy Chief of Staff of the Black Sea Fleet. From 1991 he served as 1st Deputy Commander of the Baltic Fleet and was appointed Commander of the Black Sea Fleet from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2005 he held the post of Chief of Staff and 1st Deputy Commander in Chief of the Russian Navy. On the orders of the Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, Kravchenko was retired in February 2005 after reaching the maximum service period.

Kravchenko has been president of the Moscow-Sevastopol Fund , which was founded to provide social support to the national fleets, since 2006 . He is married and has a daughter.
