Viktor Igorewitsch Faisulin ( Russian Виктор Игоревич Файзулин , alternative spelling Viktor Faizulin , born April 22, 1986 in Nakhodka , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian football player in the service of Zenit Saint Petersburg .

Career

Faisulin began his career with Okean Nakhodka , a club from his hometown, in 2004. He also played there in his youth. In the same year, the Russian moved to FK SKA-Energija Khabarovsk , where he stayed for two years. In 2007 Spartak Nalschik signed Faisulin. In 2008 Faisulin moved to the reigning Russian master Zenit St. Petersburg.

In 2008 he played nine games in the UEFA Cup , including the 4-0 home win against FC Bayern Munich , where Faisulin scored his only goal to date for Zenit, and the final , which was won 2-0 against Glasgow Rangers . Winning the UEFA Cup in 2008 was Faisulin's greatest achievement.

With St. Petersburg, Faisulin became Russian champions in 2010, 2012 and 2015, and also Russian cup winners in 2010 and 2016. Faisulin was a regular in the central midfield and missed only a few games due to isolated suspensions or injuries. However, since September 2015 he suffered from persistent knee problems and did not play a game until he announced his official retirement in 2018
