Patnagarh is a city in the Indian state of Odisha .

It is the main town in the sub-division of the same name and in Tehsil of the same name in the Balangir district . In 2011 Patnagarh had a population of 21,024. Patnagarh has the status of a Notified Area Council .

In the mid-14th century, Ramai Deva established the Chauhan rule in western Orissa and made Patnagarh the capital of the Patna Kingdom .
