Viktor Ivanovich Ischajew ( Russian Виктор Иванович Ишаев ; born April 16, 1948 in Sergejewka, Anhero-Sudschensk Raion (now to Jaja Raion), Kemerovo Oblast ) is a Russian politician.

Life

Ischajew completed a distance learning course in 1979 at the Novosibirsk Institute of Water Transport Technology (now the Siberian State University for Water Transport). Between 1979 and 1988 he worked at the Khabarovsk shipyard . Here, over time, he rose from head of the planning and shipping department to deputy director.

In October 1991, Ishayev was appointed the first administrative head of the Khabarovsk region and held this post for more than 17 years (since 2001 his title was "governor"). In April 2009, Russian President Dmitri Medvedev appointed him plenipotentiary in the Far East Federal District . As governor of the Khabarovsk region, Vyacheslav Shport succeeded him . In May 2012, Ishayev was appointed head of the newly established Far East Development Ministry in addition to his post as Plenipotentiary of the President. In August 2013 he was dismissed from both offices. He was succeeded by Yuri Trutnew as the President's Plenipotentiary , who also became Vice-Prime Minister.

Ishaev was a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2003, and in 2008 he was elected a full member.
