Hans-Joachim Fischer (engineer)

Hans-Joachim Fischer (born October 19, 1933 in Bad Gandersheim ) is a German mechanical engineer and university president.

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Gandersheim , Fischer studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. In the sixties he worked as a research and development engineer at Babcock in Oberhausen and at the Entwicklungsring Süd in Munich . From 1966 to 1978 he was a professor at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences , where he was responsible for setting up the new mechanical engineering department and later headed the mechanical engineering and marine engineering departments as dean. From 1971 to 1978 he was project manager at the Flensburg Institute for Ship Operations Technology and carried out several research studies for the Federal Ministry of Research and Technology for the use of research vessels.

From 1969 to 1978, Fischer was a managing member of the board of directors of the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences . In 1978 he was appointed founding president of the University of Applied Sciences Landshut and was president of the university until 1999. As the sole technology professor and technology transfer officer, he was instrumental in setting up the mechanical engineering and electrical engineering training. As the only specialist representative, he carried out thermodynamics teaching assignments there from 1982. In 1982 he became a member of the advisory board of the Landshut Institute for Psychosocial Rehabilitation. From 1985 to 1997 he was a member of the board of the East Bavarian Technology Transfer Institute in Regensburg . At the beginning of 1998 he became a member of the Bavarian Senate , to which he belonged until it was dissolved at the end of 1999.
