The Roswitha-Gymnasium is a general education high school in Bad Gandersheim in southern Lower Saxony . About 700 students are taught by about 70 teachers here.

Naming

In 1992 the school name of the then Bad Gandersheim grammar school was changed to Roswitha grammar school Bad Gandersheim , named after the first German poet Roswitha von Gandersheim, on the initiative of the high school year 1992 .

history

On May 8, 1878, the school became a secondary school , two years later, on November 13, 1882, it was recognized as a higher education institution with the designation Realprogymnasium .

The former main building, which is still referred to as building one or " old building ", was not erected until twelve years later . It houses the secretariat and the school management.
In 1924 the grammar school was nationalized and the upper school was introduced in the following years . As part of the school reform, the grammar school became a state high school for boys in Bad Gandersheim , so that girls were only allowed to attend high school with official approval. In 1948 it was renamed again, now to "Staatliche Oberschule". Due to the increasing number of students, the school was expanded with today's new building in 1954 and shortly thereafter renamed "Gymnasium Bad Gandersheim". The science wing was built in 1963 and the forum in 1994.

building

The school consists of six buildings connected by two schoolyards and a walkway. Two sports halls also belong to the school grounds.

In Building 1, the old building, there are classrooms that are mainly used by the upper level , the La Keller cafeteria , the library, the main teachers' room and the school management. Building 2 is the forum, which is diagonally opposite the old building and was opened in 1994. Building 3 is the new building completed in 1956 . It houses one of the three teachers' rooms, music and art rooms, geography and history rooms as well as the party room (for smaller film screenings) as well as other classrooms for the middle and lower grades. Building 4, opened in 1964, houses the chemistry and physics rooms and computer rooms.

The smaller of the two sports halls is building 5. The swimming pool in the basement is now closed and is used as a props collection for the annual theater plays. The cafeteria, the biology rooms, the second large sports hall as well as further classrooms and the last of the three teachers' rooms are located in building 6.

Projects

Comenius program

The school participates again in the Comenius project and has the Bladins School in Malmö , the Dienes Laszlo-Gymnasium in Debrecen , the Soukromá-Gymnasium in Hranice and the Istituto Tecnico Commerciale Statale Lucio Lombardo Radice in Rome as partner schools .

DELF

For many years, a " DELF-AG " has been offered annually , in which pupils can receive the elementary "A1 diploma", which enables them to take up an internship or study in French-speaking countries.

ACE OF SPADES

The "PIK-AS concept" is a network of various school projects in which students, teachers and extracurricular project partners, etc. a. the local police, are involved and have set themselves the goal of improving the school climate, reducing psychological and physical violence, sharpening awareness of one's own needs and sensitivities, and strengthening team spirit in the school by caring for fellow human beings and having a say seriously to take.

particularities

All science rooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards .

In the cafeteria, which opened in 2010, food orders can be placed online via the "Roswitha-Gymnasium-Mensa-System" (RGMS) and picked up in the cafeteria using a cafeteria ID card and a barcode.
