The term wildlife conservationist comes from the Hunting and Wildlife Management Act (JWMG), which replaced the previous hunting law in Baden-Württemberg on April 1, 2015 . Wildlife conservationists are specially trained people who are authorized to hunt (see hunting law ) and thus differ in training and duties from hunting license holders and hunting tenants . The Wild Animal rights activists replace the former in Baden-Wuerttemberg gamekeeper . The activity can be carried out on a voluntary or full-time basis, but due to the current structures and circumstances in Baden-Württemberg, it is mainly carried out on a voluntary basis.

The main tasks of wildlife conservationists are to advise private individuals and authorities on issues relating to the management and habitat design of wild animals , wildlife monitoring (recording and documenting the animals living in a certain area), how to deal with wild animals, e.g. B. beech martens , foxes , raccoons in settlement areas and in accidents with wild animals such as roe deer , red deer and wild boar ( wild boar ).

The wildlife conservationists in Baden-Württemberg work closely with the wildlife officers, the district authorities responsible for specialist advice on hunting matters at the lower hunting authority (Section 61 JWMG). Official recognition and the tasks of wildlife conservationists are regulated in Section 48 of the Hunting and Wildlife Management Act (JWMG) of Baden-Württemberg. A hunting license and a course to become a wildlife conservationist are required for official recognition. The required course to become a wildlife conservationist is exempt from people who have completed a degree in forestry or who have completed training as a district hunter .

The advocacy of the wildlife conservationists is the Jagd - Natur - Wildtierschützerverband Baden-Württemberg eV The association is recognized according to § 64 JWMG as a state-wide (meaning Baden-Württemberg) representation of the hunters. A membership is not important for the exercise of the activity but is recommended due to the constant offers for further education and training.
