Wilfred "Will" McGuinness (born October 25, 1937 in Manchester ) is a former English football player and football coach.
Career
As a youth player, McGuinness was the captain of Manchester, Lancashire and England. In January 1953, the Englishman signed a contract with Manchester United as a player. He made his team debut on October 8, 1953 against Wolverhampton Wanderers . He won his first big title as a substitute in 1956, McGuinness became champions with United States. Even in 1958, in the year of the plane tragedy in Munich , he still played, but the Englishman was not on the plane due to an injury. His first coaching job was when he was an amateur coach at Manchester United. In 1969 after the resignation of Matt Busby , McGuinness took over the team. But due to his unsuccessfulness, he only remained head coach for five months. After the Red Devils he became a trainer in Greece with Aris Saloniki . McGuinness' last club as head coach was York City. After that he was only an assistant coach at Hull City and Bury FC .
