Wilfried Erler

Wilfried Erler (born July 14, 1946 in Meerane ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association . There he played for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt and BSG Chemie Leipzig . He later became the coach of the GDR second division club TSG Chemie Markkleeberg .

Career

Wilfried Erler joined the junior soccer team at SC Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1963. In 1966 he was one of the players who were taken over by the outsourced FC Karl-Marx-Stadt. After appearances in the third-class district league team of FCK II, Erler made his debut in the league in 1968. In the second half of the top division season 1967/68 he played nine games as a striker.

For the 1968/69 season, Erler moved at the age of 22 within the league to the company sports community (BSG) Chemie Leipzig. There he played twelve times in his first season between the 3rd and 25th Bundesliga matchday, but was only in the starting eleven in six matches as a left winger. In the seasons 1969/70 and 1970/71 Erler was not part of the league squad (two league games 1969/70) and instead played in the 2nd team, with which he rose in 1970 to the second-rate GDR league . In 1971 the first team was relegated from the league. Erler, who had moved back into the squad of the 1st team, was involved in the immediate resurgence with 17 missions and one goal in a total of 30 games. 1972/73 Erler had his most successful league season, because he was alternately used as a right striker or midfielder in 23 point games. In the 1973/74 season he was only called up in the first ten league point games.

In the summer of 1974, at the age of 28, Erler moved to fourth-class TSG Chemie Markkleeberg. With her he made two climbs up to 1982 in the GDR league. As team captain, he helped the team to establish themselves permanently in the second division. On January 1, 1985, the qualified sports teacher Erler was the coach of the Markkleeberger GDR league team.
