history

Academic Work was founded in 1998 by three students in a boiler room at the Royal Stockholm University of Technology . Johan Skarborg, Jeremias Andersson and Patrik Mellin wanted to give their fellow students the opportunity to gain work experience while studying and to help them start their professional life.

In the Lindahls confectionery in Norrköping ( Sweden ), the three students decided to raise the necessary start-up capital for a public company . They gave it the name "Amenta", which is based on the Spanish word for "to increase". The company was later renamed Academic Work.

Initially, the founders opened agencies in the small Swedish towns of Ronneby , Linköping and Uppsala . The Stockholm office has existed since 2000 and within the next two years the agencies in Malmö and Gothenburg opened . At the beginning of 2007 Academic Work expanded to Norway ( Oslo ). New openings in Finland ( Helsinki ) followed in the same year . Academic Work opened in 2008 in Denmark ( Copenhagen ) and Germany ( Munich ).
