The TSG Markkleeberg , officially gymnastic and sporting community Markkleeberg 1903 eV , is a sports club from Markkleeberg in the district of Leipzig . During the GDR era, the club gained notoriety when the football team played in the GDR league between 1982 and 1990 under the names TSG Chemie Markkleeberg and TSG Markkleeberg, and after the reunification, when the men's volleyball team was promoted to the third division in 2016 .
history
Due to the economic changes in the wake of the political change of 1989 , the previous operating groups had to reorganize according to the federal German association law . On July 17, 1990, the "reorganization" under the name Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft Markkleeberg von 1903 eV was decided at a general meeting and the association was entered in the register of associations on September 18, 1990. This referred to the pre-war history of VfL Gautzsch, founded in 1903. In December 1991 the club joined the State Sports Association of Saxony .
All sections except the football section agreed to the reorganization in advance and remained the club. The soccer department went its own way and left the club on June 30, 1990. On the same day, the department founded 1. FC Markkleeberg . Although the gymnastics department first approved the reorganization, it decided at the end of 1990 to leave TSG Markkleeberg and to found its own club. On October 4, 1990 the gymnastics club Markkleeberg von 1871 was founded by the gymnastics department .
