Wilfried Hansmann (music teacher)

Wilfried Hansmann (* 1948 in Kassel ) is a German educationalist and music teacher.

Life

Wilfried Hansmann studied history, political science and musicology at the universities of Göttingen and Marburg. In 1974 he passed his first state examination for teaching at high schools at the University of Marburg. Two years later, he took his second state examination at the Darmstadt study seminar. In 1978 he moved to Giessen and started teaching there. After four years of teaching in Giessen, he moved to the University of Kassel, where he became a lecturer for the subject of "organ" in the subject of music education. In 1992 he obtained his doctorate in Kassel. phil. with a dissertation on the success and failure of the music teaching careers of Albrecht Brede and Johann Wiegand . In the context of this work he examined the maintenance of music in the Prussian provincial capital Kassel during the 19th century and reconstructed the various influences that promoted or inhibited school music lessons.

After several years of work as a pedagogical employee at the University of Kassel and his habilitation in 2002 (venia legendi "General Educational Science "), Hansmann moved to the Institute for Quality Development in Wiesbaden in 2006 . Up until 2008, he was the coordinator responsible for the area of ​​“educational studies and educational reports”. He was then appointed to the Philipps University of Marburg, where he worked as a professor at the Institute for School Education and as a director at the Center for Teacher Education until his retirement in 2013. His work focuses on education and professional research, school development and school-accompanying research as well as historical pedagogy.

Hansmann is the recipient of the Philipp Nicolai Medal. It is awarded by the Evangelical Church in Kurhessen and Waldeck to church musicians who have been active in church music with above-average performance for at least 24 years.
