Wilhelm Achilles (born November 5, 1862 in Leipzig , † after 1913 ) was a German writer .

Life

Wilhelm Achilles visited in Leipzig several high schools, including the secondary school of the first order, and studied at the University of Law and Political Science and Economics. Following the wishes of his father, he wanted to pursue a career as a lawyer after completing his studies, but in the end he made a different decision and became a freelance writer after some of his poems had found positive public acceptance. The first volume of poetry from 1891 was followed by a second in 1895.

As early as 1892 Wilhelm Achilles was recommended to the public that he should have left his childish “poems” (Leipzig, Albert Möller. 1891) unprinted; Then perhaps one day he would have died, admired by his regulars' table friends as a great poet. Other contemporaries, however, judged: Nothing new and nothing special, but nothing bad and unsuccessful either.

He was a member of the Leipzig gymnastics club and in 1901 published the club's treasure trove of songs. He was also a member of the board of directors and member of the Leipziger Verein der Kinderfreunde (child protection) e. V. at.
