Wilhelm Albert von Brunn

Wilhelm Albert von Brunn (born September 17, 1911 in Koethen , † May 8, 1988 in Wiesbaden ) was a German prehistoric and archaeologist .

Life

Von Brunn studied in Marburg, Vienna, Berlin and Halle and received his doctorate in 1937 with a dissertation on the house burial ground in Central Germany with Walther Schulz at the University of Halle .

From 1938 to 1947 von Brunn worked at the State Museum for Prehistory in Halle and from 1951 to 1961 at the Institute for Prehistory and Early History of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin (East). With a research grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG), he was able to complete his habilitation at the University of Kiel on the Central German hoard finds of the younger Bronze Age . Afterwards he was a lecturer at the Institute for Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Kiel until 1964 . In 1965 he was appointed to the newly established Chair for Prehistory and Early History at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1979 he retired.
