Wilhelm Baumeister (physician)
Wilhelm Baumeister (born December 7, 1887 in Disteln , † January 19, 1963 in Munster ) was an officer , most recently doctor general of the German Wehrmacht in World War II .

Baumeister joined the Reichswehr on March 7, 1919 and was later appointed division doctor of the 2nd light division in the course of general mobilization in 1938 . On February 15, 1941, he became a corps doctor of the VIII Army Corps . Baumeister had the same function from December 16, 1942 at the XVII. Army corps and from January 22, 1943 back in the VIII Army Corps . After the reorganization of the 6th Army , which perished in Stalingrad , Baumeister was appointed their army doctor on March 23, 1943. Here he served until the total surrender on May 8, 1945 and then fell into Allied captivity , from which he was released in 1946.
