Wilhelm Binroth

Wilhelm Binroth (born October 31, 1891 in Schkeuditz / Leipzig , † 1964 in Gelsenkirchen ) was a German genre and landscape painter .

Life

After finishing school in Leipzig, Wilhelm Binroth attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1910 . In 1912 he moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He worked in Angelo Jank's class and was later a master student of Franz von Stuck . He finished his studies in art history in 1914, after which he was a soldier until 1918. After an external drawing teacher examination for the higher education authority in Berlin and later a commercial teacher examination, he worked briefly as an industrial teacher in Leipzig. From 1922 he was a lecturer at the art-trade school in Gelsenkirchen . Until the end of the 1950s he taught at the vocational school in Gelsenkirchen.

Binroth created oil paintings and watercolors , but also pastels and monotypes . He mainly painted landscapes, often choosing motifs from Italy.

His pictures can be found in the collections of the Folkwang Museum Essen , the Osthaus Museum Hagen as well as the State Museum and the Vestische Museum in Recklinghausen .
