Wilhelm David Habermann (* 1669 in Rostock ; † April 3, 1715 in Rostock) was a professor of medicine at the University of Rostock .

Life

education and study

Habermann was born in 1669 as the son of the Rostock professor of law Caspar Habermann . He attended the Great City School in his hometown and hometown .

From 1689 Habermann studied in Rostock, Copenhagen and Königsberg. He then went on a multi-year educational trip through Livonia , Poland , Hungary , Germany and Sweden . During this time, Habermann also worked as a topographer in the Swedish service for two years before he returned to Germany, to Berlin.

academic career

In 1705 Habermann returned to his hometown and to the University of Rostock. From then on, Habermann was also admitted to the university as a private lecturer and initially gave mathematical lectures. In November 1705 he was promoted to Dr. med. doctorate and also held the office of city ​​physician in Rostock.

At the beginning of 1706 Habermann was appointed full professor of medicine by the Rostock city council. He thus succeeded Bernhard Barnstorff .

It is said that Habermann's physical condition was quite frail and that the frailty had steadily increased despite still young age. Like his father before, he was granted only a short service. Wilhelm David Habermann died during his second term as rector of the University of Rostock in 1715.
