The Faber Bau GmbH , formerly Wilhelm Faber GmbH , is a German construction company and was founded in 1909 in Schlierschied in Hunsrück founded. The founder Wilhelm Faber (1886–1951) initially concentrated on machine work, wage thrashing and cutting firewood.

In 1919 he expanded the company's services to include road construction . This started continuous growth, which led the company into all areas of road construction and civil engineering and which has made it the parent company of a larger group of companies today. After the death of Wilhelm Faber, his sons Hermann and Karl continued the company in Schliigart.

In 1963 a branch was founded in Alzey , and Hermann Faber took over the management.

In 1979 the company was split between the two brothers; Together with their sons, they expanded both companies into modern construction companies for civil engineering and road construction. In 1991 a branch was established in Kesselsdorf in the immediate vicinity of Dresden.

Over the years a group of companies has emerged in Alzey that not only offers its services as a general contractor in the field of civil engineering, road construction and water technology, but also includes companies in the extraction of raw materials, the production of all types of building materials and the trade with them belong.

Since 2010, the company has been a subsidiary of the French construction group Eiffage .

In 2016, the eastern part of the Faber Bau GmbH was spun off into the newly founded Faber Infra-Bau GmbH based in Wilsdruff (near Dresden). In 2017, Faber Straßen- und Tiefbau GmbH in Schliigart was merged with Faber Bau GmbH Alzey and has been run as a branch of Faber Bau GmbH Alzey ever since.
