Wilhelm Ferdinand Emminghaus

Johann Wilhelm Ferdinand Emminghaus (born January 1, 1778 in Hachenburg , † July 26, 1844 in Usingen ) was bailiff and secret councilor in Usingen.

Emminghaus was the son of the city and country physician Joh. Fr. Christ. Emminghaus (born March 4, 1746 in Hachenburg). He married Charlotta Philippina Friederike née Medicus (born August 12, 1777 in Weilburg; buried on January 22, 1849 in Usingen), the daughter of the government and chancellery director Wilhelm Ludwig Medicus (born July 31, 1739 in Atzbach; † 25. April 1816 in Weilburg) and his wife Christiane Philippine Dorothea née Cramer (born June 22, 1744 in Weilburg; † January 3, 1816 ibid). Their son Friedrich (Fritz) Emminghaus (born June 24, 1814 in Usingen; † September 18, 1873) became a journalist and writer.

Emminghaus attended the Philippinum grammar school in Weilburg. At the latest in 1812 he was a bailiff in the Cleeberg office . In 1812 the official seat was moved to Usingen and in 1814 it became part of the Usingen office . In Emminghaus he was a bailiff in the Usingen district until his retirement in 1843. He was appointed Privy Councilor and awarded the Knight of the Grand Ducal Hessian House Order.
