Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie (born December 7, 1778 in Kristiansund , † October 10, 1849 in Bergen ) was a Norwegian lawyer and politician.

Christie first studied law and passed his exam in 1799. He was secretary for the Danish Chancellery from 1801 to 1808. He returned to Norway to work in Bergen as district judge for Nordhordland .

He belonged to the Quodlibet group , a group of senior men with political and literary interests. In March 1814 they held numerous meetings on the question of independence, as well as on the question of a constitution ( grunnlov ). The formulation in § 2 of the Basic Law can be traced back to him: "Jews must be completely excluded from access to the Reich." He considered them to be deceivers, believed that they would make human sacrifices, practice idolatry and bigamy, and that under the pretense of holiness and religious zeal. There is a risk that they will seduce fiery and imaginative Norwegians into vice, to resistance against the state and the authorities. Christie was there, like Peter Motzfeldt , proponent of a constitutional orientation along the American-French model.

Christie was a representative of Bergen in the Imperial Assembly of Eidsvoll on May 17, 1814. He was chairman of the committee during the negotiations with Sweden and played a major role in ensuring that Norway could maintain its independence in the personal union with Sweden .

He was a member of the Storting in 1815 and 1818, where he helped establish a stable constitutional practice. In 1825 he founded the Bergen Museum .
