Wilhelm Giese (lawyer)
Wilhelm Giese (born August 16, 1816 in Rostock ; † April 9, 1889 there ) was a German lawyer. From 1880 he was First Mayor of Rostock.
Life
Wilhelm Giese was the son of a lawyer. He attended high school in Rostock and then studied law at the University of Rostock , the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin and the Georg August University in Göttingen . In 1835 Giese became a member of the Corps Vandalia Rostock . After completing his doctorate, he settled in Rostock as a lawyer. He was elected councilor in 1853 and was director of the city's police department. From 1880 to 1889 he was mayor, later first mayor.
