Wilhelm Gueinzius
Wilhelm Gueinzius (born March 15, 1813 in Trotha ; † January 24, 1874 in Pietermaritzburg ) was a German pharmacist and naturalist. He worked and died in Natal .
He prepared plants and animals and collected ethnologically interesting pieces. He sent the materials to Eduard Friedrich Pöppig , founder of the Zoological Museum in Leipzig, among others . In 1838 this had given Gueinzius the impetus to go to South Africa . Other parts of his collections are now worldwide.
Afterlife
Several species are named after Gueinzius .
