Wilhelm Hellge
Wilhelm Hellge (born December 30, 1878 in Schönebeck ; † October 31, 1947 there ) was a German local politician ( SPD / SED ) and trade unionist .
Life
Hellge, the son of a worker, learned the trade of a carpenter. At the age of 18 he organized himself in a union and joined the carpenters' association in Schönebeck. Hellge was soon elected chairman. In 1896 he joined the SPD. During the November Revolution of 1918 he was a member of the workers 'and soldiers' council in Schönebeck. From 1919 to 1933 he held the office of city councilor there. At the same time, he was responsible for the control of the entire construction industry in what was then the district of Calbe an der Saale . In this function, he particularly supported the savings and construction associations as well as the so-called “ Heimstätten-Bau ”.
After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, he was relieved of all offices. During the Nazi regime, Hellge was persecuted, ill-treated and temporarily detained.
In 1945 he was elected chairman of the SPD in Schönebeck. After the unification of the KPD and SPD on March 21, 1946, he acted as one of the two parity chairmen of the SED Schönebeck.
Hellge was buried on November 4, 1947 in the Schönebecker Ostfriedhof in an honorary grave.
