Wilhelm Hoffmann (born December 11, 1876 in Eichelsdorf , Schotten district in Hesse , † April 4, 1942 in Berlin ) was a German socialist politician.

Life

After successfully completing elementary school, Wilhelm Hoffmann attended the post office school where he took the post office assistant examination. In 1893 he was employed as a postal worker in Darmstadt. In 1897 he completed his military service. In 1909 he married the carer Anna Margarete Gwinner , the marriage was divorced in 1929. From 1919 he was employed by the Reichspost until 1933, first as postal secretary, and later as postal secretary in Berlin . Hoffmann continued his education through studies at the Humboldt Academy , the Administration Academy and at the University of Berlin.

Hoffmann was initially a member of the SPD and joined the USPD in 1917 . In 1922 he joined the SPD. Wilhelm Hoffmann was a co-founder of the General German Association of Officials and the Workers' Radio Association .

Hoffmann had run as a candidate for the Reichstag as early as 1920 . As a successor, he was a member of the Reichstag from February 1922 to May 1924 . He was elected in constituency 2 in Berlin. In December 1923 he resigned from the SPD parliamentary group as an opponent of the enabling laws.

After the beginning of the National Socialism , Hoffmann was dismissed from civil service for political reasons.
