Wilhelm II of bushes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilhelm von Büschen († April 3, 1402 ) was from 1398 until his death in 1402 as Wilhelm II. Bishop of Minden .

origin

Wilhelm comes from the ministerial family von Büschen, who had a fortune with a castle (later called Münchhausenhof ) in Hessisch Oldendorf . Wilhelm was the only bishop in Minden who, unlike most bishops, did not come from the higher nobility, but from a family of servants.

Bishop of Minden

Before being appointed bishop, Wilhelm was archdeacon in Lohe and provost in Minden . Wilhelm was appointed bishop on February 1, 1398, when his predecessor, Bishop Marquard , was recalled to the diocese of Constance . Wilhelm II served as prince-bishop in the diocese of Minden until his death and was therefore also regent as prince-bishop in the bishopric of Minden . He chose the Schalksburg as his official residence, which fell to the bishopric when Wilhelm II took office after the Lord of the Mountains dynasty had died out.
