Wilhelm Isaac Gillé

Wilhelm Isaac Gillé (since 1871 by Gillé ) (born May 24, 1805 in Offenbach am Main ; † August 8, 1873 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a banker and politician of the Free City of Frankfurt .

Wilhelm Isaac Gillé was the son of the Grand Ducal Hessian Professor in Offenbach am Main Henrich Jacob Gillé and his wife Sophia Charlotte Ernestine nee Pohl. He married on April 9, 1832 Elisabeth Emilie née Nestle (born March 23, 1811 in Frankfurt am Main; † August 22, 1839 ibid), daughter of the tradesman in Frankfurt am Main Johann Tobias Nestle (1777-1834) and Anna Dorothea Andreae .

He was a trader and banker in Frankfurt am Main. At first he was a partner, then owner of the bank “W. Ganslandt & Sohn ”, Töngesgasse, in Frankfurt am Main. From 1837 to 1845 and from 1850 to 1853 he was a member, from 1850 a sub-senior and from 1851 to 1853 a senior (president) of the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce . From 1854 to 1873 he was the first director of the Frankfurter Bank and a member of the administrative board until 1873.

He was a member of the Legislative Body from 1845 to 1846. On October 25, 1848, he was elected to the Constituent Assembly of the Free City of Frankfurt . On September 26, 1853, he was elected senator, but turned down the election after three days of reflection. In 1871 he was raised to the personal Württemberg nobility.
