Wilhelm Josef Sebastian
Wilhelm Josef Sebastian (born March 21, 1944 in Dernau / Ahrweiler district) is a German entrepreneur and former politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
After attending elementary school , Sebastian completed an apprenticeship as a wholesaler and then did his military service from 1964 to 1966 . From 1967 to 1970 he was managing director of the Raiffeisenkasse in Dernau. In 1970 he became chairman of the board of directors of Ahrwinzer eG and was also its managing director from 1970 to 1986. From 1971 to 1989 Sebastian was also chairman of the Ahr wine promotion association and from 1999 to 2005 he was chairman of the Rhein, Ahr, Eifel tourism service . In 2005 Sebastian resigned as chairman of the board of Ahrwinzer eG after becoming managing director of Bel Ahr GmbH in 2004 .
Wilhelm Josef Sebastian is married and has two children.
Political party
Sebastian joined the CDU in 1967 and was chairman of the CDU district association in Ahrweiler from 1989 to 2003.
MP
From 1974 to 1999 he was a member of the municipal council of his home town of Dernau and has been a member of the district council of the Ahrweiler district since 1979 . From 1986 to 1994 Sebastian was also a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate and there during this time economic and transport policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.
From 1994 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag .
Wilhelm Josef Sebastian was always elected to the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Ahrweiler constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he achieved 49.6% of the first votes . In the run-up to the internal party nomination for the federal election on September 18, 2009, he was not proposed again as a direct candidate in the 199 constituency by the district executive of the CDU district association Ahrweiler.
Public offices
From 1980 to 1989 Sebastian was a district councilor for the Ahrweiler district and from 1984 to 1999 honorary local mayor of Dernau.
