Wilhelm Koenig

Wilhelm Koenig (born December 9, 1826 , † December 29, 1894 in Oberzell ) was the son of the high-speed press manufacturer Friedrich Koenig and the inventor of the two-color printing press .

Life

After the death of the founders, König continued to run the machine factory Koenig & Bauer together with his brother Friedrich von König . In 1850 he constructed a railway moving machine. In 1854 the six-fold machine was constructed. In 1864 he built the two-color printing machine for the first time and in 1867 the double- platen machine . In 1878 the first printing press with a four-roller double inking unit from the Koenig & Bauer factory came onto the market. In 1885 he built the first rotary printing press for variable formats together with R. Börner . In 1888 this was expanded into a four-color rotary press for the "Expedition of Reich Papers" in Saint Petersburg. At the beginning of the 1890s, König began to build special machines for printing securities , including the five-color sheet-fed press with the name “Payne”.
