Wilhelm Lenz (politician, 1897)

Wilhelm Friedrich Lenz (born March 16, 1897 in Kleinlinden ; † August 10, 1969 in Gießen ) was a Hessian politician ( KPD Hessen ) and former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Life

Wilhelm Lenz was the son of the miner Wilhelm Lenz III. and his wife Elisabeth nee Klös. He was married to Martha, born Rodenhausen (1899–1978), and of Protestant denomination.

Wilhelm Lenz worked as a mechanic in Gießen-Wieseck . In 1916 he was called up for military service and experienced the First World War as a soldier in Russia and France.

Wilhelm Lenz joined the KPD in 1923 and was a member of the state parliament for the 5th legislative period from 1931 to 1932. After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was in "1933 protective custody taken", but released after six weeks. He was arrested again in June 1935 for illegal work for the KPD and sentenced in November 1935 to three years in prison for “preparing for high treason ”. After serving his sentence, he was held in Buchenwald concentration camp from 1938 to 1945 .

He then worked first for the US military government and later a trucking company in Giessen. Politically, he no longer emerged. Wilhelm Lenz died on August 10, 1969 in Gießen-Wieseck.
