Wilhelm Müller (pedagogue)

Wilhelm Müller (born March 30, 1886 in Malchow (Mecklenburg) ; † September 16, 1969 ) was a German educator , teacher and reserve officer. Müller was in correspondence with Uwe Johnson for 15 years .

Life

Wilhelm Müller studied a. a. in England, took part in the First World War on the German side and entered civilian life in 1918 as a reserve lieutenant. He became a high school teacher a. a. for English. During the Second World War he took part as a reconnaissance pilot with the Second Army Corps of the Wehrmacht .

After the war, Müller became a teacher at the Gymnasium in Güstrow . Here he was the English teacher of the later writer Uwe Johnson. Müller later kept in touch with Johnson by letter.

Müller's letters to Uwe Johnson begin on January 12, 1954 and end on August 31, 1969. They are in the Marbach literature archive .

Johnson put his former teacher and later pen pal Müller in the "anniversaries" with the figure of Dr. Julius Kliefoth a literary monument.

Wilhelm Müller's ashes were buried next to the grave of his wife, who died of cancer in July 1946.
