Wilhelm Rager

Wilhelm Rager (born November 14, 1941 in Vöcklamarkt ) is an Austrian author.

Life

Rager went to high school in Salzburg and Vöcklabruck . In 1959 he graduated from high school in Vöcklabruck and then studied German and English at the University of Vienna . After his teaching examinations for German and English, he worked on an unfinished dissertation on the dialogue literature of the Baroque period at Welzig and initially produced unpublished poetry and prose.

From 1969 until his retirement in 2000, Rager worked as an AHS teacher at the Schärding grammar school . He is married to the painter Sonja Krünes-Rager and has two children.

In addition to working in the field of poetry dealing with the experience of nature, he maintains close cooperation with Heimathaus Schärding in the field of regional archeology. He has published in the yearbooks of the Innviertel Artists' Guild and in anthologies since 1987 .

Rager is the winner of the Wilhelm Szabo Poetry Prize 2002 and the competition of the "National Library of German-Language Poetry" in 2003 and 2010.
