Anton Wilhelm Schiemer (born August 1, 1824 in Spachbrücken , today part of Reinheim ; † June 27, 1894 in Pfungstadt ) was a South Hessian local politician and from 1877 to 1888 mayor of Pfungstadt. During his term of office the elevation to the city ​​fell .

Act

In 1863 Wilhelm Schiemer was a co-founder of the Pfungstadt cooperative "Advance and Credit Association Pfungstadt eG" (forerunner of Volksbank Pfungstadt, today Volksbank Darmstadt-Südhessen eG ). Afterwards (1863–1878) he was the first club computer and board member and from 1878 to 1885 director and chairman of the board.

On the initiative of the South Hessian factory owner and politician of the Progress Party, Wilhelm Büchner , Wilhelm Schiemer was directly elected mayor of Pfungstadt on October 12, 1877 with 86% of the votes. During his tenure he was responsible for the establishment of the volunteer fire brigade in Pfungstadt (July 27, 1879). He was also committed to the rail connection and the commissioning of the Pfungstadtbahn (1886). This enabled the market town of Pfungstadt to be raised to town status on December 28, 1886. In 1888 Wilhelm Schiemer resigned from his mayor's office at the age of 64 for health reasons.
