The Volksbank Darmstadt-Südhessen eG is a registered cooperative bank based in Darmstadt . Founded in 1862 as a self-help organization for medium-sized companies, it is now one of the oldest and largest Volksbanks in Germany. Its business area extends over the districts of Darmstadt-Dieburg , Groß-Gerau and Bergstrasse in southern Hesse .

Volksbank Darmstadt eG, founded in 1862, merged on January 1, 2009 as part of a three-way merger with two Volksbanks in the Bergstrasse district, Volksbank Bergstrasse eG in Bensheim and Volksbank Bergstrasse eG in Lampertheim, to form the new Volksbank eG Darmstadt • Bergstrasse district .

In 2012, the merger with Groß-Gerauer Volksbank eG followed, from which the Volksbank Südhessen - Darmstadt eG was formed, before the name was changed to today's Volksbank Darmstadt - Südhessen eG in 2013. In 2014, the merger with Volksbank Seeheim-Jugenheim eG followed and in 2018 the merger with Volksbank Modau eG.

Volksbank Immobilien GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of Volksbank Darmstadt-Südhessen eG. It was founded on June 10, 1988 under the name Volksbank Immobilien Bergstrasse GmbH and was registered in 2009 under the name Volksbank Immobilien GmbH. It employs seven people who broker real estate.
