Wilhelm Schluchtmann

Wilhelm Schluchtmann (born September 20, 1877 in Alstaden , † November 2, 1930 in Bad Homburg in front of the height ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schluchtmann was born the son of a machine attendant. After attending elementary school, he worked as a miner in the Ruhr area from 1891 to 1905 . He joined the SPD at the turn of the century and was a board member of the miners' association and the consumer association in Meiderich , where he worked as a small trader from 1905 to 1907. From September 1907 to November 1920 he worked as party secretary for the SPD district of Niederrhein (Duisburg-Wesel) based in Duisburg . His activity there was interrupted from 1914 to 1916 due to his participation in the First World War. In the last two years of the war he also worked as an editor for the Niederrheinische Volksstimme in Duisburg.

One month after the November Revolution , Schluchtmann was sent as a delegate to the First Council Congress in Berlin . In 1919 he was Reich Commissioner on the staff of the 7th Army Corps and from February 1920 to March 1924 he served as a part-time advisor for trade union issues in the Prussian State Commissioner for Public Order. From December 27, 1920 until his death he was district administrator of the district of Dinslaken , until April 1921 he held the office on a provisional basis. During the occupation of the Ruhr , he was imprisoned as a hostage by Belgian troops in Anrath prison from May to December 1923 .

Schluchtmann was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly from 1919 to 1921 . In February 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he belonged until his death. In parliament he represented constituency 23 (Düsseldorf-West).
