Wilhelm Seel (politician)

Friedrich Wilhelm Seel (born December 7, 1866 in Mainz ; † August 4, 1921 there ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD Hessen ) and a former member of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Wilhelm Seel was the son of the shoemaker Johann Philipp Seel and his wife Henriette nee Butler. Wilhelm Seel, who was of Protestant denomination, married Margareta nee Steigmeier. Until 1900 he worked as a cooper . From 1900 to 1905 he was an employee of the OKK-Mainz. From 1905 to December 1909 he was a full-time Gauleiter of the Böttcher Association based in Mainz. Between January 1910 and September 1920 he was SPD party secretary in Mainz and then retired due to serious illness.

From 1901 to 1907 he was a city councilor in Mainz and from 1919 to 1921 a member of the state parliament. His successor in the state parliament was Martin Reck .

In 1914, Wilhelm Seel was chairman of the cooperative association and member of the supervisory board of the consumer association in Mainz.
