Wilhelm Thiele (architect)

Wilhelm Thiele (born July 12, 1873 in Halle an der Saale , † after 1945 possibly in Schliersee ) was a German architect and designer of interior furnishings.

He studied at the Technical University and the School of Applied Arts in Dresden , where he became a member of the Corps Thuringia Dresden . He achieved the rank of government master builder and manufactured a. a. Furniture designs, for example 1903/04 for the administration building of the Ministries for Culture, Justice and the Interior in Dresden, which were made by the Dresden workshops for handicrafts . On April 1, 1907, he became director of the newly founded craft and arts and crafts school in Bielefeld , whose new building he also designed. On October 1, 1912, he moved to the Charlottenburg School of Applied Arts and Crafts as director . From 1921 to the end of 1924 he was director of the Königsberg Art Academy . From 1926 he was head of the teacher training institutes at the State Art School in Berlin.

In 1907 he was one of the co-founders of the Deutscher Werkbund .
