Wilhelm Vehmeier

Wilhelm Vehmeier (born January 16, 1893 in Detmold ; † November 1, 1989 there ) was a German politician ( KPD ).

Vehmeier learned the locksmith trade. In the 1920s he went to work in Nienhagen. After the First World War he began to work in the KPD, where he took on tasks as a cashier and subdistrict manager. In January 1933 Vehmeier was elected as a member of the last Lippe state parliament.

A few weeks after the National Socialist “ seizure of power ”, Vehmeier was arrested and sentenced on July 22nd by the Hamm Higher Regional Court for preparation for high treason to one year and three months in prison. After his release on June 22, 1934, he was taken into protective custody until September 22 of the same year . From January 23 to 29, he was again in protective custody.

After 1945 Vehmeier was temporarily "Commissioner of the Anti-Fascist State Committee of the State of Lippe".
