Wilhelm Freiherr Knigge (born June 10, 1863 in Altabgülden , † July 2, 1932 in Schneidemühl ) was the owner of the manor and member of the German Reichstag .

origin

Wilhelm Knigge's parents were Baron August Adam Otto von Knigge , Herr auf Pattensen und Santen, (born June 25, 1824 - † November 28, 1895) and his wife, Baroness Helene von Koskull (* July 6, 1837, † April 1, 1900 ), from the house of Kruschkaln.

Life

Knigge was taught by private tutors until 1874 and then attended high school in Hanover until 1881. He learned practical agriculture in the province of Saxony and studied in 1882 at the University of Halle . In 1884 he became an officer in the 10th Hussar Regiment in Stendal . His last rank was Major d. Reserve. He was the owner of the manor in Grunau near Flatow, a member of the district council in Flatow and a member of the board of the district synod. He was the holder of the Landwehr Service Award First Class , the Iron Cross Second Class (1915) and Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John . During the First World War he served as a district chief in Libau after initially serving as a cavalryman at the front.

From 1912 to 1918 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency district of Marienwerder 7 ( Schlochau , Flatow ) and the German Conservative Party .

He married Countess Klara zu Castell-Rüdenhausen on October 14, 1887 in Mittau (* October 15, 1861). The couple had at least one daughter:
