Residential building Wilhelminenhofstrasse 46

The House Wilhelminenhofstraße 46 (formerly officials House Wilhelminenhofstraße ) is a living , commercial building and monument in Berlin district Oberschoeneweide of Treptow-Köpenick .

history

In 1905 the Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft (AEG) had a house built for civil servants and engineers at Wilhelminenhofstrasse 46 across from the Oberspree power station . The listed residential building is part of the uniform development on the north side of the street between residential buildings and consists of a front building and a side wing. The architect Gottfried Klemm worked for AEG and was commissioned to design the residential building. Klemm planned a representative but restrained plastered facade facing Wilhelminenhofstrasse for the four-story residential building. On the ground floor three large arched windows for the shops and business premises were installed next to the side entrance and on the upper floor the left window axis was combined by loggias. In addition, the windows were glazed afterwards. The second axis of the window is covered by a gable field, in addition there are narrow triangular bay windows in the third axis and they connect to the balconies . All windows and facade elements were framed by smooth plastered surfaces that are imitated in natural stone . The parapets are equipped with Gothic forms and elements of Art Nouveau can also be found on the frieze under the eaves .
