The Wilhelmshöhle is a cave in the Swabian Alb in Baden-Württemberg . It is located near the Hohenneuffen 1.25 km west of Erkenbrechtsweiler at the foot of the Marienfelsen on the Beuren mark .
history
The Wilhelmshöhle, discovered in the 1940s, was made accessible through extensive work in 1958/59 (670 m above sea level, ki 2, EB 1.2 m, EH 0.8 m, L 169 m). The best way to get there is to descend on the Marienfelsen from the hiking trail from Erkenbrechtsweiler to Hohenneuffen over the steep slope to the foot of the rock. The four meter long entrance silt leads to a small room in which you can stand. A blind corridor leads to the southwest (length 15 meters). To the north-east is the clay hall (there is a voice connection to Marienfelshöhle 2 in a five meter high chimney on the ceiling). Some narrow areas lead to a sinter basin that is 0.5 meters deep, which is constantly filled with water, and to the high hall, where the cave passage divides again. A relatively spacious chasm leads to the east (length 17 meters). Through further narrow passages you get to the riding arena, after which the multi-angled corridor becomes narrower again. The end of the cave forms another small hall from which a few short corridors branch off. A shaft leads five meters down.
