Will Batts
Will Batts (born January 24, 1904 in Michigan City , Mississippi , † April 16, 1954 ) was an American blues singer and musician (violin, guitar).
Live and act
Batts played the violin in his father's string band at the age of nine; he also learned the mandolin and guitar. In the 1930s he played with DM "Doctor" Higgs and Sam Dane in Jack Kelly's Memphis Jug Band and as an accompanist for the Minstrel singer Frank Stokes . Under his own name he recorded a few songs with Jack Kelly for Vocalion Records in 1933, such as “Cadillac Baby”, “Country Woman” and “Highway No. 61 Blues ”, further recordings were made in 1939. In 1934 he led his own band. The last recordings were made in 1952 with Big Walter Horton .
